Make your first post.
Gibbet has a handful of post types, each suited to a different kind of share. Here’s a quick tour, plus a five-step walkthrough so your first one lands smoothly.
The five-step walkthrough
Posting on Gibbet happens in the mobile app. Once you’ve signed in:
- 1Open the composerTap the green + button on the bottom tab bar. The composer slides up from the bottom of the screen.
- 2Pick where it goesAt the top of the composer, choose a community to post in — or leave it on your profile to share with your followers instead.
- 3Pick a post typeSwipe across the type chips (text, image, poll, blog, quiz, link, VOD). The composer changes based on what you pick — a poll asks for options, a link asks for a URL, and so on.
- 4Write it outAdd your text, attach images, set up your poll, or paste your link. The preview at the bottom of the composer shows exactly how your post will look in the feed.
- 5Ship itTap Post. Your post lands in the feed instantly, you earn a few gubbles, and your daily streak ticks forward if it's your first post of the day.
Every post type, explained
Pick the one that fits what you want to share. You can always switch types mid-draft.
The simplest post on Gibbet. Type what you want to say and ship it. Great for everyday updates, questions to your community, or a quick reaction to something happening in your world.
Attach a photo or a set of images. Add a caption if you want to set the scene. Images get a tap-to-zoom lightbox in the feed so people can actually see what you posted.
Write a question, add 2–6 options, and let your community pick. Votes tally in real time and you can see how the room is split as it happens. Polls show up everywhere posts do, plus on the /polls page.
Like a text post but with room to breathe. Add a title, headings, links, and as many paragraphs as you want. Blogs get their own dedicated /blogs feed and tend to attract longer, more thoughtful replies.
Write a question, give people answer choices, and mark which one is correct. Anyone scrolling the feed can tap an answer and instantly see if they got it right. Quizzes show up on the /quiz feed.
Paste any link — articles, YouTube videos, Bandcamp tracks, anywhere on the web. Gibbet pulls a preview (title, thumbnail, description) so people know what they're clicking before they leave the app.
Upload or attach a longer video — a stream archive, a tutorial, a behind-the-scenes clip. VODs live in the /vods directory and on your profile so people can find them after the moment passes.
A few quick tips
- Your first post of the day starts (or extends) your daily streak.
- Posting in a community puts your post in front of that community’s members. Posting to your profile sends it to your followers.
- Every post earns a few gubbles. Replies and reactions earn a few more.
- You can edit text, blog, and quiz posts after publishing. Polls lock once votes come in.
- Not sure what to post? Browse the feed for inspiration.
