Gibbet runs on two layers of rules: the platform-wide Gibbet Guidelines that hold in every community, and each lily pad's own community-specific rules on top. Here's both — plus a directory of every community's guidelines.
Two layers of rules. Every community sets its own community-specific rules on top of the platform-wide Gibbet Guidelines below. When the two ever seem to conflict, the Gibbet Guidelines are the floor — a community can ask for more, never less.
Gibbet Guidelines
The 10 platform-wide rules that apply in every lily pad.
1.Respect Every Frog in the Pond
Treat everyone with kindness. Disagreements happen, but personal attacks, harassment, and bullying have no place here. Remember there's a real person behind every profile.
2.Keep the Pond Safe for All Ages
Gibbet welcomes users of different ages. Don't post explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or anything inappropriate for younger community members. When in doubt, leave it out.
3.No Hate Speech or Discrimination
We don't tolerate content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality. Lily pads are for everyone.
4.Protect Privacy
Never share someone's personal information without consent — no doxxing, no leaking private conversations, no posting photos of others without permission. What happens in DMs stays in DMs.
5.No Spam or Self-Promotion Flooding
Share your creative work, but don't flood communities with repetitive promotions, affiliate links, or off-topic ads. Contribute to the community, don't just broadcast at it.
6.Don't Impersonate Others
Be yourself. Pretending to be another user, a community staff member, or Gibbet staff undermines trust and will result in removal.
7.No Illegal Activity
Don't use Gibbet to plan, promote, or engage in anything illegal — including sharing pirated content, selling prohibited items, or coordinating harmful activities.
8.Follow Community-Specific Rules
Each lily pad may have additional rules above these guidelines. Respect them. If a community says "memes only in #general," that's the local law.
9.Report, Don't Retaliate
See something that breaks the rules? Report it to community Agents or Gibbet support. Don't engage in vigilante moderation or public callouts that escalate drama.
10.Have Fun, Hop Responsibly
Gibbet is built for connection, creativity, and community — not endless scrolling or toxic engagement. Take breaks. Touch grass. The pond will be here when you get back. 🐸
How communities are governed
Every lily pad has a moderation hierarchy that enforces both the Gibbet Guidelines and the community's own rules. Reports go to these people first.
Agents
The community founder and top-level stewards. Agents set the rules, appoint staff, and have final say on moderation within their lily pad.
Leaders
Trusted moderators who enforce the rules day to day — removing content, managing members, and keeping conversations healthy.
Curators
Helpers who shape the culture: highlighting great posts, welcoming newcomers, and tending the corners of the community they care about.
